In the vibrant 90s, more than 6000 kilometers away from her roots, Inga Merling began her journey within the underground music scene of Nuremberg. Early on, she captured raw backstage moments, developing a visual language that would later define her work through depth, atmosphere and authenticity.
By the early 2000s, she had entered the world of band photography and gained recognition as a wedding and event photographer. However, her artistic direction soon moved beyond traditional formats, driven by a strong desire to create unconventional and iconic imagery.
Her work evolved into limited book editions and a wide range of exhibitions across Germany. She has exhibited in Metzingen, at the renowned Auktionshaus Nagel, as well as in Stuttgart with up to four exhibitions and in Nuremberg, which became a central part of her journey with a total of twelve exhibitions. Her latest exhibition took place in November 2025 at Galerie Ostermayr. In June 2026, her work will be presented at the European Parliament in Brussels.
She has also exhibited alongside contemporary artist Tim Bengel, placing her work in dialogue with modern conceptual and high end art.
In 2008, she founded her first home studio, which later developed into Ella Don The Studio in 2012. From there, her work expanded into fashion, media and commercial productions. She worked with a wide range of public figures, artists and international clients.
Among those she has photographed are personalities such as Jorge González, Giulia Siegel, U Jean, Christian Tesch and the artist CRO. Her work also extends into the world of professional sports, where she collaborated with football clubs such as Bayer Leverkusen, VfL Wolfsburg and FC Bayern München. She has portrayed football legend Giovane Élber as well as fan favorite Dante and worked alongside many other figures within the football scene.
In addition, she has collaborated with various singers, actors, creatives and internationally recognized companies. Her portfolio includes advertising campaigns, political campaigns, online shop productions and brand development processes on an international scale.
Beyond her work as a photographer, she has supported and guided emerging labels, brands and artists, accompanying them on their path toward visibility and success. Her role often extends into creative direction and strategic development, shaping identities and positioning within competitive markets.
In 2015, she founded the ELLA DON ARTFACTORY, a platform dedicated to interdisciplinary collaboration between art, fashion and media. That same year, she worked with Sky Sports and accompanied German national football players, capturing moments with international figures such as Steve Wozniak and Joss Stone.
Her career continued to expand into new fields. By 2019, she was active as a creative director, esports collaborator and artistic mentor, combining visual storytelling with digital culture.
Since 2022, she has been working in the field of NFT art, exploring new forms of ownership and artistic expression in the digital space.
Since 2024, she has been collaborating with Alexander Sascha Koslowski, one of the early pioneers of German YouTube culture and co creator of the influential channel DieAussenseiter. Today he focuses on film and conceptual storytelling.
Inga Merling is involved in the realization of the film project ALEX Part 1 and represents him as his manager, supporting both the creative vision and its strategic development.
Her work moves fluidly between art, fashion, media and culture. It is defined by a strong intuitive approach, a sense for iconic imagery and the ability to connect different creative worlds into one consistent vision.
Ella Don stands for more than photography. She represents a mindset that transforms moments into lasting visual narratives.
